ATHLETICS - Mel Patton is the best sprinter on the 200 metres. The rest of the podium is identical to that of the 100 metres that was run four days ago.

Herb McKenley had beaten Patton earlier today in the semi-finals. Barney Ewell was the third man from that semi-final to go through to the final. It proved to be a very strong trio because two of them took the gold and silver medal.
Suprisingly enough, McKenley wasn't one of them. He had to settle for fourth place with Patton winning the gold and Ewell the silver. LaBeach equalled his achievement of the 100 metres and took his second bronze medal.
